Official translation and filings

Before translating documents for academic credential recognition

Recognition, validation, equivalency, and credential evaluation are not interchangeable processes.

Identify the process first

Different countries and institutions use recognition, validation, equivalency, and credential evaluation for different processes. Use the name supplied by the receiving institution.

Confirm before translating

  • The competent institution and exact process name.
  • Required documents, language, format, and submission method.
  • Whether an official translation, external evaluation, apostille, or legalization is required.
  • Whether syllabi, course descriptions, or additional certificates are requested.

Programs and institutions may request different supporting records. Confirm the list directly with the evaluator before commissioning translations.
