Translation requirements for documents submitted to USCIS

The federal baseline

Under 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3), a foreign-language document submitted to USCIS must be accompanied by a full English translation. The translator must certify that the translation is complete and accurate and that the translator is competent to translate into English.

What the rule does not say

The cited federal rule does not itself require a Colombian official translation, a notarial acknowledgment, or an apostille. Specific form instructions, consular processes, or a later request for evidence may impose different documentation needs, so the filing instructions control.
